Selecting a Marriage Date

Getting married? A little forethought and you can save yourself a lot of money.

Here’s a new tip for men that you’ve never heard of before.

Decide what you like to do for a romantic get-away vacation, say the beach. Scan the beach property rental costs and find the off-season, say like November. Plan your proposal so that your wedding ends up happening during that discounted time frame.

From now on, when your wedding anniversary comes up, you won’t have to stomach a painful rental, and instead can take the amount you save and make the day even more splendid without breaking the budget.

Works for cruises, ski trips, hiking, bed and breakfasts, amusement parks, Vegas, basically anything that has seasonal rates.

Insensitive or ingenious?

  1. After thought: if you are certain you’ve got a short term marriage on your hand, such as you’re an actor who’s trying to pull your career out of a slump by generating some tabloid buzz, consult your tax attorney to see if you can maximize deductions for the prior year. This also works for having children.

  2. Yeah…One problem. If you do this say in November, then many of the cool anniversary things that most people liek to do would also be out of season or then not open at all. We have been thinking about Niagra at some point, but one of the best tourist excursions, The Maid of the Mist, stops running at the end of Oct. Sure, it can be cheaper, but if most of the fun is not available then is it worth it?

That being said, we usually end up finding something to do. You just may have to leave the country to do it.
